Masks

You can use masks to create various design effects.

Creatie supports two types of masks: transparent masks and outline masks.

Transparent masks allow you to trim areas and change the opacity of this special style graphic by controlling the opacity of the mask layer.

When the mask layer is displayed, outline masks allow you to set attributes such as fill, stroke, and special effects for the mask layer, creating more flexible and rich graphic styles.

Create a Mask Layer or Object

In Creatie, you can set any layer, including frames, shapes, images, text layers, groups, etc., as a mask layer/object. Here are three ways to create a mask layer/object:

  1. After selecting a layer, click the Mask icon in the top toolbar.
  2. After selecting a layer, right-click to open the menu and select “Use as mask”.
  3. After selecting a layer, use the shortcut key:
    • Mac: Control + Command + M
    • Windows: Shift + Ctrl + M

If a shape is used as a mask, the mask will be applied to the layer above it in the layer panel.

If a layer is already a mask, select the layer, click the Mask icon in the top toolbar, and the layer will be converted to a regular layer.
